Hello,
I am using Microstation v8i SS2.
I received some dgn files from a client that will not open. I have tried the following methods to open: opening thru Microstation file open command, right clicking the file to open, file insert, referencing the files, but noting works.
Is there a way to trouble shoot these files?

It probably everything you can do. My experience is if reference attachment does not help, the file is really corrupted.

In my opinion the only other chance is to try to use FileFixer from Axiom, but I have no personal experience how good this tool is.
I also recommend to open the file in hex editor (e.g. Notepad++ with Hex plugin) and to compare a beginning of the file with any other working dgn file. The file header (a few forst bytes) have to be the same, so it's quick test if it's really dgn file or anything else with a wrong extension.
With regards,
Jan
