CORRUPT FILE REPAIR

What format are these files? DGN, DWG, DXF or maybe another format.
Have you tried a more recent version of MicroStation?
Can you supply one of these files you are having problems opening?
Do the files open in any other software or have come from something other than MicroStation?
Any other details you could supply would be most helpful.

It probably everything you can do. My experience is if reference attachment does not help, the file is really corrupted.

In my opinion the only other chance is to try to use FileFixer from Axiom, but I have no personal experience how good this tool is.

I also recommend to open the file in hex editor (e.g. Notepad++ with Hex plugin) and to compare a beginning of the file with any other working dgn file. The file header (a few forst bytes) have to be the same, so it's quick test if it's really dgn file or anything else with a wrong extension.

What are the fixrange, verifydgn and VGN tools. If they are available with Power Geopak, then I can atleast try them to see if they may be helpful.

Thanks for your interest. The files are dgn and as far as I know, have been created as dgn files. If you have a private ftp site I can use to download files or an email, I can send the files to you. I am reluctant to send thru the public forum.
