How to prevent scaling of dimensions when resizing?

We have got several cell elements that contain dimension elements.

Very often its necessary to resize the cell elements after they have been placed into a drawing.

The users resize the cell elements using the 4 corner spots:

How can we prevent that the dimension values are changed when the element gets resized?

really  need a dgn example  file to see how yo fix this as it  depends how your cell is constructed... but  I wouldnt  use the  4 points  I use 2 points and  set proportional to on.. but if you dont want to see the  dims  change  value  just look bigger

create a sub model place your cell there and  self ref attach the  sub model and scale  by points the reference  it should not change  the dim values just make the image  bigger.... if doesnt  work as intended  return to the sub model and  drop the  cell and  drop the  dimensions return to default model and scale ref should be  perfect!

  • Just edit the Dimension in the Cell model to text, so the asterisk " * " does not display. The * in the dimension tells MicroStation to place the actual dimension in it's place. The Text and dimension elements will still scale but the text in the dimension will not change.

  • This one is nice as it is easy to achieve.

Lorys solution would work, too - but there are too many things to think of and I am afraid that our users would not get this done 100% correctly as many of them are on beginners level.
  • You can also try adding a scale factor to the units that matches the scale you use to resize.

in that case wouldnt it  be easier when open the  cell model for editing  to just  drop all the  dims  with the  select  all and drop dims ticked only?

so they  look like dims but no longer are  dims, they are  just lines and text.....

And  you the Experiended guy  know  to go to all the cell models  needed and  do it  for your less experienced  guys and they wont even know its been done..

But I still prefer to use  scale proportional cells via  place cell and turn on the  scale only and interactive  mode, then only  need 2  points in one direction as in your example the text  is  distorted
