Hi,
In V8i I can control the position of a Hole Feature in a body by using the Tool "Constrain Feature".
In CE I have tried to use the Constraint Tools to do the same, but they don't work with Features.
How can I control the position of a Feature inside of a Solid?
Regards,
Christian
Hi Christian,
Try to assign dimension to element then create variables, if you want you can add variations too.
Select the dimension, right click on it to edit and assign it to the variation you want.

Hi Aimable,
Thanks for your advice. I did a few more tests and now it works.
I was a little bit confused, because if you try to set a constrain and select only the solid you get the message "Element not valid for tool".
But it works if you select a edge of the solid.
There is one more confusing issue.
I have set two constraints for horizontal and vertical distance of the hole.
But it shows only the horizontal constraint. The vertical constraint is not visible.
But there is also a constraint. It is only visible if you select the hole feature.
Is this a normal behaviour?
Hello Christian,
While Analyzing this assembly observed that you are trying to use Graphic Cell Element as Profiles for Sweep Edge Feature. These elements (Graphic Cells) are invalid element for this Parametric Feature operation rather you can use Parametric Cell for the same.
For your verification I am attaching the Parametric Cell version of this Profile Geometry and Placed instance of same in assembly which can be further used as a Profile for Sweep Edge Feature.

Hi Dinesh,
Thank you for your help!
I'm just despairing! Now I want to use a Parametric Cell for Sweep Edge Tool. Therefore I want to set constraints as you showed showed me in your example file"Constrained Profile for Sweep edge.dgn".But I can't create a coincident constraint. Neither a 2D nor a 3D.What do am I wrong???
can not constrain parametric cell.dgn

I have explained this issue to Aimable. At present we are not able to form 2D-constraints between Parametric cells...I will have a talk with the developer and get back to you on this soon.
It has also been observed that Sweep Edge Feature using Parametric Cell as a Profile does not Transform correctly (the way 2D Shape based Sweep Edge Feature Transforms) when base solid is subjected to change for the second time... I have reported Defect-1038649 to Track down this issue. Will soon update you on 2D-Constraints soon.
After discussing with our Product Manager Marco Salino, I have reported Defect-1038948 to track down the issue of constraining 2D parametric Cells.
Thank you for this information.
Do you think it could be fixed with Update 14 in Q3/Q4?
Would be important for my company.
