Dynamic Pan

Microstation V8i (Select Series 3) V 08.11.09.459

How to do I reset my mouse for the dynamic pan - 'Shift' + Data (Left Mouse).  Somehow this process now does 'Element Select Fence'.

I have already tried to remap mouse Button X1 to Left Button-Right Button Chord but this doesn't change anything.

Thanks in advance because I use this a lot and it's frustrating to be without!

The "Pan Scroll" (Shift +Data and drag for direction & speed) allows the user to drive along a road/path in the design and check the surrounding area easier (my opinion) that the Pan-Drag-Release - Pan-Drag-Release OR all the Data points to pan of the default pan, of the Mouse Wheel. It depends what works for you. And just because it's new, doesn't mean its better for what you do. Keep an open mind guys! Try the new options, see if they work for you better. Then decide what works for you. We are here to provide assistance, and options, not negative criticism (i.e. what everyone should use). I hate it when someone doesn't try the new tools, they just want the old one back, but if they did try the tool for a while, and decide the old one works better for them, then that's fine with me. Enough lecture! I also prefer to press the middle button for a Tentative doesn't mean that I don't use the wheel to zoom or the Pan Drag Release Or all the data points to pan. I (me) just don't like the Lt+Rt chord. Pan w/Zoom I just didn't like, but it works for you, and that's fine.

try open two windows , tile views, then in view 1 zoom around some objects with the  window area but set it  to apply to window 2

you should now have a big magnification window and a small magnification window  and as  you move the  mouse  in one view you  will see the cross hairs in both windows  .. the old mdl for v7 eagle eye  did this better  but that is no longer available after  SE .. .was great on two monitors and very good for single  monitor.. but this is a not bad approximation especially handy  with large scale maps as you can get lost  when you zoom right in  under normal viewing...
