Hi,
I installed my Microstation PowerDraft V8i on a new laptop with Windows 10. I tried it several times, but every time the toolbox 'Main' and 'Tasks' are not visable and not working. Also the shortcuts for these toolboxes. What is the problem?
Hi Mieke,
which version of PowerDraft V8i did you install, was that the latest V8i Ss4 version: 08.11.09.829, or have you possibly tried to install PowerDraft V8i Ss3 (08.11.09.459)? The V8i Ss3 version is not certified to run on Windows 10 (though it could work).
Did you install with administrator permissions (right mouse click on the installation program and choose: Run as Administrator).
Though you mention that this is a new laptop: was there any previous version installed already? Was that version fully uninstalled?
Are you testing with the out-of-the-box Untitled user, so without any customizations?
If you have applied your organizations' customizations on top of it, could it be that those are based on an older V8i version and that e.g. you are using a (seed) .spf/.upf file from that older version?
If so, please disable that seed preference variable (MS_USERPREFSEED), exit PowerDraft delete your current .upf file and restart PowerDraft.

Are your WorkSpace>Preferences set like this:

RE: Toolbar missing with installing on new computer

Did you install with administrator permissions (right mouse click on the installation program and choose: Run as Administrator). Yes
Though you mention that this is a new laptop: was there any previous version installed already? Was that version fully uninstalled? My laptop came with Windows7 but no other Powerdraft was installed.
Are you testing with the out-of-the-box Untitled user, so without any customizations? Costomizations
If you have applied your organizations' customizations on top of it, could it be that those are based on an older V8i version and that e.g. you are using a (seed) .spf/.upf file from that older version? Yes, but with my colleagues it worsks fine.
If so, please disable that seed preference variable (MS_USERPREFSEED), exit PowerDraft delete your current .upf file and restart PowerDraft. We did, but no effect.

Yes, but no effect.

does the "tools" pulldown have the "main" and "tasks" options available for you to select ? and are they showing checked or selected ? are you able to select these options outside of your custom workspace and have them stay ?

Hi Mieke
If you have selected the Tasks from the Tools menu and the Tasks still do not appear. Maybe they are hiding behind something. Within MicroStation can you go to Windows. Is the MicroStation tasks listed as shown below. if yes select it. Does it then appear?
