Raster not showing in dwg file opened on V8i but shows in Autocad

When you open the DWG file in MicroStation does the raster image show in Raster Manager? If it shows in Raster Manager is it red. If so, then Raster Manager cannot find the raster image. If the raster image shows gray make sure the level that the raster image is attached is turned on. If the raster image shows in Raster Manager and does not display make sure the View number at the bottom of Raster Manager is blue. What is your raster format are you using.

Nothing is listed in Raster Manager!

I have turned all levels on in the file and nothing appears.

If raster image does not show in raster manager then it means that your raster image did not stay attached. You will need to attach your raster image in Raster Manager. In Workspace > Preference > Raster Manager > Georeference check your Working Unit settings and if your raster image has a sister/world file make sure "Use sister file if present" is marked.

Thanks but you are not understanding the issue. If I open the .dwg file in ACAD the raster shows. If I open the same .dwg file in MicroStation the raster doesn't show and is not listed in RM.

What version of MicroStation and AutoCAD are you running? What is the raster image format of the raster image that is attached? Are you using a 3rd party package to attach your raster images in AutoCAD? Are you using a Add-On Object Enabler in AutoCAD? Are you using AutoCAD Map? If you are using AutoCAD Map did you import the raster image and do a Save As and create new DWG file. If so, what options did you select when you did the Save As. This issue may have been resolved in a later release of AutoCAD and MicroStation.

can you ref attach the dwg to mstn , can you then copy paste  the image?

in acad can you try export to dgn?

can you click on the image in acad and  choose to save it or export the image as an image file like jpg or ecw etc?

if its imbedded can you clip around it and save as dwg? ( try dgn too) then use the dwg as a raster ref file?

there must be an acadway to un embed the file back out to an image....google autodesk ... 

ok quick google found this but its all autocad goble  so you need to open dwg in acad ....

You're showing the image in the xref manager. If you open IMANAGE, you can view it in the raster design manager. Right click on the image and select Un-Embed. Maybe then you will be able to save the changes.
