&lt;p&gt;is there any font substitution going on, is it word wrapped or &amp;nbsp;is it ex acad dwg text copy pasted?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;without a copy of the text in the ref file and a copy of the child file that its refed into then its very hard to determine what is going wrong....&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;can you post sample &amp;nbsp;dgns to work with...&lt;/p&gt;

Can you specify the version of MicroStation you are using? It can be found in:&lt;br /&gt;
HELP&amp;gt;ABOUT MICROSTATION&lt;br /&gt;
The version will be in the form of: XX.XX.XXX.XXX&lt;br /&gt;
