Zoom function has altered mid - project?

Hello all,

I am still somewhat basic when it comes to this program, as we rarely use it at uni.

I have been modelling a house for a few weeks every now and then with no problems, however yesterday about mid-way through my session, the zoom function decided to act up on me! I used to be able to zoom in and out at my pleasure, wherever my mouse was pointing. Now, it will zoom to a certain magnification (I'm unsure about the "level" of zoom, about 15 turns of the mouse wheel) before it starts to pan to the top right of the screen, irrespective of which way the model faces.

I've read issues about peoples Units per Distance Meter and such, but I don't want to change this due to the assignment being strict on dimensions, and the fact that I haven't touched any of these settings for the entire duration of the project? What could've made it change suddenly? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My file is in mm, with an accuracy of 0.1234, and the resolution is 1000 per Distance Meter

Regards, Aaron

  • I think that might actually be the case. When starting a new file, completely from scratch, the problem still exists, however I copied my project into a file I did last year, and just deleted the old stuff in it and it worked!
I will upload a copy of the first file so if anyone else has similar problems, you might be able to find the reason.
As for the questions, it is a 3d file, and everything that was included was my own work, no files sourced from elsewhere.

  • Aaron, Thanks for the file but I was not able to reproduce the problem on my machine.
You mentioned that you were seeing this in a new File as well , so must be some setting that must be affecting this.
In the Pan View Tool , there is a check box "Move Camera". Is it ON or OFF ?. Do you see a different result with this check box = ON / OFF

You can check why the view is acting weird by also opening another view window and starting the 'define Camera" tool ( found in Visualization task). Set the Active view as view 1 & in view 2 you would be able to see the Camera Cone . .As you zoom in /out using mouse in View 1 , you will be able to see the camera cone move accordingly. May be a video should the problem will help.
