CEU5 - How do I place text above & below a line?

How do I place text above & below a line? In SS4 the option is shown in the Place Text dialog but seems to have been removed in CE?

  • To add to this...

The place text workflow is now worse in CE. A user will select 'Place Text', then they will realize the options for text placement are no longer in the same dialog. So they have to active the 'text options', then reactivate the 'Place text'.... crazy... put it back where it came from please

  • Well that is frankly rubbish and is definitely a step backwards from the workflow available in SS4!! I use to use Edit Text to grab some text, and then Place Text, with Place Above Line, to quickly rotate text to an element.

Come on Bentley this is really bad!! Why have you changed this and can we have the SS4 workflow back?

    Hi Stuart

This has been removed from the place Text dialog and placed in its own dialog...

    Look in ..

Annotate Tab > Text > More > Place text along

Under the Placement section of the Home Ribbon is where the Place Text icon is showing.

To the right of this is a grey down arrow that has two extra tools available to you.

    • Place Text Along
    • Place Note

Yes, the Method of Placement list has now been separated from the Place Text tool but it was always a separate dialog box.

This has been simplified and is less confusing in relation to the operation of Text Styles for size, angle, justification etc.

  • Hi Andrew

This is  what we had in V8i....  .

In CE these tools are no longer part of the Place Text workflow.  Thus you have to swap tools to set the Text placement type and then place text, thus moving from one step process to 2.  As you can see above In V8i its ALL in the same dialog

    Exactly!
Bentley - You have taken away what was a very simple (brilliant) workflow for doing this. It was so easy to do with all tools available in one dialog. Why change something like this? Doesn't make any sense!
What is even more annoying is that I have to use the ribbon. I don't use the ribbon at all at the moment as I have all the tools I need either from Tasks (PM) or docked.
