HOW TO SMOOTH OUT POLYGON SS3

I found how to reduce the collinear  vertices in a  polygon by accident a while back, just copy move parallel positive and repeat but same distance negative to reinstate the polygon in its original position, you can even use a reference file and copy into the active to prove it does retum in its original location.. I don't think its deliberate but rather a quirk that has a real benefit once you know about.... don't know if this works in CE...

Much more efficient than delete vertex one at a time see my example below

  • Hi Lorys,

This works the same in CE.

As a side note you don't need to copy parallel two times. With a single parallel (distance = 0) you'll get the desired result.

Thanks I was erring on the side of caution but now I know it works all the time  I'll copy parallel distance =0, I need this,  as a lot of my data comes from model designers from 3d surfaces ( not working with bentely products)eg  where existing contours  intersect with design surface so I need  the  interface  polygon created by the intersection to clip mask the existing contours out of the finished contours on plans, and  the clip by element fails if there are too many coplaner vertices or just too many vertices... but it's a great trick all the same and  most worthy of sharing  with my  peers...
