raster manager will not show raster file after file is closed

I am using microstation V8 2004 edition (V7 mode) with I/RAS B. I can load a .cit file from the raster manager dialog box and make edits and changes to the .cit file until I close the file. When I reopen the file the .cit file still appears in the file but does not show up in the raster manager dialog box. The file does show up in the I/RAS B layer info dialog box though (Bentley I/RAS B Command Menu->File->Layer Info->All Layers). It is a pain to have to keep detaching and reattaching the file and performing all the work over and over again.

Any ideas how to fix this?

If you are in V7 Mode, I suspect that it may be a limitation of the V7 file structure. I don't have a good way to check this out, but I know that V8 had some significant enhancements over V7 version, and I believe that Raster Manager was one of those. It may be that V7 files just can't store and save the raster in the same way that V8 files can. Is it possible for you to save your file to a V8 version to test that out?

I had a hunch that it might be the V7 mode but I have worked for years on other projects in V7 mode with no problems. I have upgraded to V8 and tried it out but I have to convert back to V7 as this is an existing client drawing in which they want it to be kept in its original V7 mode.

There is a variable MS_OPENV7, if you set this to 3, you can then work in the file as a native V7 file. This will also allow you to work in the same way as you would in MicroStation J. You would not have to upgrade to V8 and then save it back down, this will save you that step.

In Workspace > Configuration search for MS_RASTERSCAN. If MS_RASTERSCAN is set to 0 then try setting it to 1. If that does not resolve the issue please let us know. It has been a while so I will have to investigate some more.

I just tried changing it to 1. The result is the same, the raster loads back up but does not show up in raster manager dialog box.

Can you tell me what you have MS_OPENV7 set to in I/Rasb?
This morning I tried I/Rasb 08.05.02.35. In I/Rasb I set MS_OPENV7 to 3. I opened a V7 DGN file in I/Rasb 08.05.02.35 and the CIT image was attached. I did File > Exit and check Raster Manager and the CIT showed in the list. Can you open a Service Request and I will contact you and make sure we are doing the same steps.

I just looked and MS_OPENV7 has always been set to 3. The I/RAS B version I have is 08.05.02.63 if that helps any.

Can you open a Service Request and I will contact you. I need to know the steps that you are doing. Are you opening a V7 DGN file in I/Rasb 08.05.02.63 and attaching a CIT image and the CIT image displays? You exit I/Rasb and the CIT image does not show in Raster Manager? When I do the steps the CIT image displays in I/Rasb and shows in Raster Manager and displays. Are you using a V8.5 DGN file or a V7 DGN file?

Are you leaving the DGN files as V7 or are you converting them to V8.5? Since CIT images are not version dependent then it will not matter if the CIT is attached in a V7 DGN or a V8 DGN. Is the CIT image already attached in the V7 DGN file or are you attaching the CIT image to the V7 DGN file? When you attach the CIT image does it display in the V7 DGN file?
