Problem with units - Active Angle

I have a problem with units. When I try to insert Active Angle Value, Microstation rounding units into unity. I can't change it in Settings - Design File. My workmates got the same problem. We are using PRT V8i.  Does Anybody had the same problem?

  • There are 2 additional settings that could come into play, other than the settings in Dimension Styles.

Remember these are File Settings and can be saved for the file using Save Settings!

At one of my clients, we force the units so NO ONE can change them. Thus we have 2dp for linear and 2dp for angles. This is controlled via a customised DLL. (Which you need a program to change). I am not saying this is your issue but it might be....

Can you try this for me...

Go to Settings > Design File settings
Change the Linear units accuracy to something different.
    Save settings
    exit the file
    reopen the same file
    Check the units readouts

    Did they save?

  • Ok, thanks for you replies. I'm going to define my problem

Problem for 90% is connected with separator. I have the same problem with for example Moving by Distance (accudraw - lock distance).

When I try to enter value there:

and I try to enter the digits after decimal point, program always rounds value to unity. No matter if I enter a period or comma.

I've tried to change it in Design File Settings - many combinations with Active Angle, Angle Readout, Axis and Working Units. Of course i saved settings and restart program - nothing helped.

Ian Lapper - i've done what u sugessted and the units readouts saved after saving settings and reopening file.

That's why I think, the problem is with separator. After changing separator in System's Control Panel from , to . it helped. I know that there is another way to fix it. My workmate have done it months ago but we can't figure out how did he achieve it.

  • Hi Pawel

please tell us your windows regional settings and your windows language setting; especially the decimal separator setting.

Microstation as an English based application, like PTR,too,  can not work correctly with "comma ," as the systems decimal limiter(separator).
Partially the "comma" is used  as separator for coordinate values x, y, z (Accudraw precision input). So you better use the "point ." as the decimal separator.
