Ok, that must be based on the OpenRoads Technology then. I have not had much of a chance to work on that platform. I'm sure someone on the other forum can help.

mwlong, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the tracking does not follow the path. The tracking stops when I get to the gap and resumes when I get to the other segment. The alignment was created using SS3 commands, not from the InRoads Explorer (SS2).

In the Project Explorer, under Line Elements, it list all 3 elements. They are named test (original alignment), test 1 (first segment of the break), and test 2 (second segment of the break)

This isn't a Microstation issue - it's is specific to the modification of a Horizontal Alignment created by Power InRoads. Mwlong has the right answer for this situation.

If you try that command on a plain Microstation element (not created by InRoads) you should see that it behaves as expected.

If you have your alignment file loaded in Power InRoads then the entire alignment will most likely highlight since you are only breaking the alignment graphically. If you redisplay the alignment using Power InRoads the segment you deleted will reappear. You did not break the alignment into 2 separate alignments so Power InRoads still recognizes it as one continuous line. Try using Horizontal Tracking and you will see that the tracking will still follow the same path and report stationing in the gap you created.

Well, I don't use that product, but my guess is that the alignment may be a cell or other complex element.

yes, the graphic group lock was on. I turned it off and I am still get the same results. I am breaking the line to remove a segment in the middle. Break works fine on a regular line or a smart line. I only have this problem when I break an alignment.

When you break the line are you breaking it and deleting a portion of the line or are you just breaking it at a specific point and leaving the entire length the same? If you are breaking the original element into 2 pieces and not deleting anything I would suspect that you have the Graphic Group Lock on. This would explain the behavior of highlighting & selecting both elements. Turn off the Graphic Group Lock <Settings <Locks <Graphic Group

Please tell us which version of MicroStation you are using (e.g. 10.05.x.y).
