CE display problem with rasters with clip boundary

   (CONNECT)

      (V8i)

There is an issue with the display of rasters with clip boundary. The first image if from V8i (SS4 or SS3), the second image is from CONNECT (CE5 or CE3).

I join a small dgn.

  • Hi patr93!

I got the same display between Ss3 and Connect Update 5 as you did. So there is a problem. This shouldn't happen. I think it is Connect being too particular (fussier) on the Clip Boundary definitions to the image attachments. Just me guessing. I did note a few things that MAY have caused issues.

    1. You are working in a 3D file and there are elements on various elevations. Active Depth was 21.8181 instead of 0. I tried to Flatten them in Connect, but the 3D LineString would not Flatten (Problem in Connect), so I went back to Ss3 to ModZ everything to 0 (zero). ModZ works (wish we had it in Connect).

    2. Your fence mode was set to Clip mode instead of Inside. I don't know if the Clip Boundary would have a problem with that in Connect.

    3. It looked like the one attachment (on left side) had a Clip Mask done to it so it would not Clip correctly till I removed that Clip Mask (which I couldn't see), and redefined the Clip Boundary limit on that one.

    4. I Re-Clip Bound the others that did not display properly and got them to display properly in both Ss3 and Connect. I can only guess what was going on. Thinking that Connect is more particular than Ss3 was for those Boundary definitions.

    5. I noted you didn't give each attachment a different Logical name. How do you tell one from another? other than highlighting, and some of the clip boundary areas are small, so it's hard to see them.

    6. I noted a problem that you can't sort by Logical Name (or any other column) I think this is an issue that should be resolved, and they didn't come up in the Raster dialog in the same order as in Ss3 originally. ??????

Was a great help providing the sample. Thanks!

  • Thanks for the files.  I have filed Defect 733538 for the issue that you are seeing when you view a raster image with Clip Boundary in V8i and Connect Edition.

  • Thanks George and fmcallis.

With the same data in local coordinates (0, 0, 0) instead of in (1600000,6200000,0), there is no more problem with CE.
