Hello: I have Powerdraft v8i (selectseries 3) ver8.11.09.397 and I want to customise the dimension toolbar. I have one at the bottom of the screen with 12 buttons and at the right most here sometimes appears the command I want, modify dimension Ithink its called. It allows changing the endpoint of a nonassociated dim; moving the text around, and moving the whole dim away from the subject or towards it.But to get this command when its not on the rhs of that strip, I have to go Tool at the top then down to Dimensions then across to Miscellaneous Dimensions W, then across to Modify dimensions 3. The command I want appears and disappears at the right of the lower strip, but not under my control. There is also a toolbar on the left with 7 dimensioning buttons, but the command is usually not there.I have plenty of room at the left of the screen for a custom menu bar.Can I create one in Powerdraft, to keep the commands I need onscreen?thanksJim Medlock
Hi Jim,
Have a look at this WIKI, it explains in great detail how to customize Toolbars in MicroStation/PowerDraft V8i.

Let us know if it solves your issue.
Best of luck.
Kind regards,
Anders
Anders,
Thank you. Unfortunately my drop down menu under Workspace comprises Preferences Configuration (no Customise) Function keys Button assignments Gesture (no digitising) and About workspace. So I can't get far with that!

As you are using PowerDraft, which is a cut-down version of MicroStation, there are many capabilities that are not included.
Try using the key-in CUSTOMIZE DIALOG to open this tool.

Andrew, thank you. Customise DIalogue fails but Customize Dialog works fine. I successfully created a new toolbar with one tool in it. It is the modify dimension tool.
I have previously noticed, when using this tool from the native menus, the ustn picks up elements not dimensions, ie if there is say a shape with a dimension on top it it, it will snap to the shape, in response to the modify dimension command. I consider this wrong, as the user has clearly indicated wants to modify a dimension, not any other element.
AND
when I eventually put in the key in "modify dimension", it is rejected, even though that combination appears in the dropdowns in the exter text dialog. The error message is "command not defined for this application." This error is given when the custom tool (with the key in 'modify dimension') is used, or when the dropdowns for 'modify dimension' are selected wholly within the key in utility.
In the dialog box at bottom left of screen, the text "Modify element" appears, when modify dimension is invoked with mousepoint.
I have to dropdown 3 lists at top of screen, when the command is absent from the lower toolbar.
When I modified my custom tool so its keyin is 'modify element', it seems to work ok.
So, thanks; I am now four pages in to the ten pages on customozing. Many thanks for that.
and
how come 'modify dimension' purports to be a dimension specific tool, as most would expect, but is actually boundup/confused with modify element?
thanks and regards
