I find position mapping is very effective, see CONNECT Edition - Using Position Mapping to get to Tools Really Quickly! in this thread https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/f/microstation-forum/117574/new-ribbon-interface-what-do-you-think
I have had a look at the link and followed the instructions but am now confused with the following:
Enabling Position Mapping assigns the Q Shortcut to the First Ribbon Group that follows Attributes and Primary instead of the Quick Tools pop-up. Quick Tools is still accessible (with the deafult Function Key assignments) by F7.
Now if I press Q I get the Linear toolbox and not what I thought it would do. The next ribbon group is Selection!
Also an you let me have an sequence example and what you expect to see/happen?
look at the ribbon - is "Q" assigned to the selection group ?

I'm guessing not as pressing Q opens the Linear toolbox. Is that right?
You can check which key is assigned by turning on "Position Mapping Aids" in Preferences-->Position Mapping.
I have the attached set.
And Q still brings up the Linear toolbar.
