Isometric Drawing - Designating views

Hello All,

I drew in isometric using Microstation for the first time this week.  I didn't pay attention to the views in which I drew and realized that my model is not oriented as intended ie my "isometric view" is what I intended to be my "front view" to be (rookie mistake).  Is there a way that I can change the orientation of the drawing to reflect the proper views without using the rotation command?  Can I designate a face to be my front, side and top views?

Thanks

  • Hi Christian,

Yes you can. You can define saved views. If you change your view orientation to your Front and save the view with the name: Front

When you are viewing from any other orientation and change to front view it will assume your saved view and not the original one.

Go to View\Saved Views\Create Saved View:

Then, you're your desired view create a saved view with the name: Front and accept with the Left Mouse button in the desired view so that it saves.

After that change rotate the view at something different from the original one and if you try using the Front from the View Rotation toolbox it won't work, it will get the original orientation view:

But you can do this way, go to Backstage\Settings\User\Function Keys\

Inside create a new one with the desired key, in my example I use Alt+F5

Click save and use this in your personal file.
And it's done. You can rotate to any orientation and whatever you need your "Front" orientation just use your combination keys and Left Mouse Button inside the desired view. Microstation will call you're saved view.

This works the same for any other orientation view: Back, Left, Right, Top, Bottom

This is some kind of workaround. If the model is not on the desired orientation you can use this. But normally you should rotate your elements to the correct orientation.

    Regards
