Line Scaling

Did you check the lock settings in your file? Go to <Settings <Locks <Annotation Scale and make sure that is turned on.

Yea Bob, I am referring to the Line Style Scale setting, in the Model Properties dialog.

It could also be a scale factor for the Level By-Level setting, or the Override settings (if used) for the level.

Make sure both files are looking at the same Custom Line Style definition, Same rsc file for that Line Style definition. You could be looking at a Line Style definition that has been written to the active file, or is in a DgnLib, or in a Resource (.rsc) and the definitions can be different for the same Custom Line Style name. To see where it is is drawing the definition from, go to the Settings > Line Styles > Custom. In that dialog, go to the Line Style in the list, and just above the preview display, it will tell where the Definition is stored.

George, thank you for the information. I had checked the Model Properties and the Line Style Scales were identical.

It appears our dgn and the clients both store the line definition from the dgn. Seems strange since the definition should be provided by our DOT, and I would have thought they were the same. The project was converted from SS2 to SS4 so maybe that’s why. Is there a way to update my dgn to use the same line definition?

Did you check the linestyle scale on the level from the reference attachment (also mentioned by George)? This one is easy to miss by someone with primarily ACAD background, due to lack of the concept in that world. Open up "Level Manager", right mouse button select the level you need to check, bring up "Properties" dialog box, then go to "Styles" tab. There are two linestyle scale overrides from level, one for ByLevel and the other for Level Overrides.  You mentioned that you had Level Overrides turned on in your view, so that's the one you need to check.

Don, for the information.  I had looked at this but the levels are "greyed" out and do not allow me to make changes.  As a background to the file, we have a dgn file the references various other dgn files.  That file used to control the appearance of the files.  This in turn is referenced into Sheet files.  I ended up using the base dgn provided us and setup the referenced in that file they way the should appear.  The line style scales are correct per our client in that file.  It is the sheet files they are incorrect in, and I cannot modify the properties there.  FYI, I did try to use our seed file to create the controlling file but the linetype scales were incorrect in that file.  That is why I used the clients file as the "seed" file instead.  Hopefully that makes sense.

I'm going to attempt to export, then import the RSC file to see if that works.

just out  of curiosity go to  the dgn where the actual element  lives, now select that element  and  right mouse button and select the   properties item from the  submenu activated by  holding the rmbutton down, then in the  properties find the line style parameters> extended> scale and see what the actual scale is...

Then this number will be  multiplied or divided by the annotation scale...

This setting applies to custom  linestyles  and  complex like    -G-  or   -> ->

Some times when used as a ref file I have to divide this by  1000 to make it  work in metres  then when in  the drawings  it multiplies by the drawing scale  and then it looks right in drawings... oh and annotation scales settings need to set in the ref manager and  model properties for both  ref file and drawing  file which I think you found already...
