(MICROSTATION CONNECT) Pasted objects coming in at a larger size than original.

Question

I'm trying to copy and paste some object into another drawing and I have the scale set to 1 but when I measure the pasted object its larger than the original object I copied from. Im sure it probably has something to do with the scale but im not familiar with customizing the drawing scale, the drawing units however are the same. (I'm in MICROSTATION CONNECT, I cannot send a sample file, I cannot open any file you may send to help, all objects are 2d elements, nothing is referenced, there are no reference files, everything is in directly in the file, nothing is referenced)

Not sure exactly which method you are using to Copy&Paste but I would suggest referencing one design file into the other. That way if there are different working units, scales etc. that this will be taken into account. There are also the scale options when referencing. You would then use the Copy tool provided in MicroStation rather than the Copy&Paste which is a Windows tool.

Hi Chris, I might be few years too late, but hopefully the reply will help someone else with the same problem. I had possibly the same problem today. What happened was, I was scaling something else (a PDF) just before the copy and paste. So when I activated the scale tool, I left the scale settings as 'active scale' 1.03434543... etc etc. When I finished scaling the other unrelated object, I left those scale settings and moved on to copy and pasting cells from another file. Then the items pasted from clipboard all adopted that 'active scale' 1.03434543... etc etc. Which suggests the scale factor doesn't just affect the scale tool, but also other tools like copy and paste between different files weirdly enough. After I went back into the scale tool, and changed active scale to 1:1, the items copied and pasted exactly. I know many people suggest referencing, then copy, but if you're only copying something really quick, e.g. 1 sink, into like 20 apartment plans, I think it's silly trying to reference 20 times, in which case, just need to make sure your scale tool 'active scale' is set to 1:1.
