I forgot to uncheck auto update for Google Earth and it auto updated to me to 7.3.1.4505 which is now a 64 bit application where I don't think the previous version was. Neither MicroStation SS4 or CONNECT will properly communicate with the latest version of Google Earth. SS4 causes GE to shut down when I try to sync my view and CONNECT has window pop up a warning message about User Account control from Google Earth. I'm now searching for an older version of Google Earth to see if I can restore functionality.
I was able to downgrade to Google Earth version 7.1.8.3036 (32-bit) and functionality has been restored.
In my searching I found there is also a 32-bit direct installer of Google Earth version 7.3.1.4505. I have tested it and it does still work with both versions of MicroStations. So it appears to be an issue with the 64-bit version of Google Earth.
I've also been experiencing this problem today. Thanks for the workaround, Ryan!
Hi Ryan,
This is really a good catch. I was also testing on same GE 32-Bit (without auto-update).
I've filed two defects 816450 and 816478 for this issue.
Thanks and keep reporting,
Manoj
