I just checked the status of this issue and it has indeed failed some internal testing and is still opened.

This looks appears to be targeted for next release after MicroStation 2023.

Hi Regie, Microstation 2023: still not fixed. Eg open the scaling tool's context menu, change the method from active scaling to three points by using the space bar, hit enter and the window loses its focus.

You could change the language in "Preferences/Language" to english and try again. In MS CE Updt 13 English, I have the same behavior.

As you say, the standard tab behavior must be the default : it is a standard on all Windows platform (amongs other). Changing it is disturbing.

David Trejo-Rodriguez: Philippe HALET just confirmed this behaviour in the comment section of his idea for the French version. So I guess it's global. I wonder why Bentley doesn't just correct these litlle nuisances on the fly instead of searching for excuses.

I hope this will finally be corrected in CE 12. Just placing an answer so I don't forget to keep coming back to this one until it is resolved.

By the way: I am talking about the GERMAN version here - I don't know about the English version, might work fine there.

No changes here, so far. Am I the only one using the keyboard for switching through options?

I find it highly annoying to not being able to use standard procedures. In each and every Microsoft window you can jump around with TAB, SHIFT+TAB, ALT and whatever key combination there may be. Just not in Microstation. Why is that so?

I want to work FAST and ACCURATE and EFFECTIVELY. In some aspects Bentley put more obstacles in the way than removing them from CE10 or whatever CE it is. Instead they're going the easy way and call that behaviour WAD.

In this case here we're talking about a beginner's programming task, not rocket science. Why is it so hard to regenerate TAB tables?

Good for you, on my machine (Win 7 Pro 64 bit, Powerdraft CE7) it does not work. I assigned lots of keyboard shortcuts and only a few work when this setting is activated. Hence it is no solution at all - at least for me.

I really wonder why the standard tab jump order doesn't just get fixed on code level. That's not rocket science, it's a fairly basic task. Most workarounds in Microstation generate other issues so I'd prefer a simple fix.

Tested in Update 8 and with auto-focus on, F7 set to "place fence block", and CTRL+F7 set to "Modify Fence Icon" I get the desired behavior.

Well, it works for the tab jump order but completely corrupts my keyboard shortcut workflow. E. g. I have assigned "fence" to F7 and "manipulate fence" to CTRL+F7. If I activate auto-focus tool settings I can only create my fence but pressing CTRL+F7 does .... nothing. So this is no good solution for my workflow even if it works for the tab jump order (for whatever reason that had been changed in the first place, never had to activate these settings in V8i).

This most likely due to a preference. Try the following:

1. Open the preferences dialog

2. Go to Look and Feel

3. Enable Auto-Focus Tool Settings

The setting when on will bring focus to the active tool enabling keyboard shortcuts.
