Try opening docs.bentley.com link using another browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox. Sometimes on first opening it can take some time to open to the linked section. You might like to locate this section under your own local Help Documentation if you have MicroStation CONNECT installed.

When I try to go to docs.bentey.com I always get an error.

Using Chrome.

There area number of methods that could be used to make all elements in a model of your design file be related as a single entity. The easiest option could be to place the model as a Cell. If it is all the elements within that Design Model then you can go into the properties of that model and tick the option "Can be placed as a cell".

Do you have Graphics Group Lock on or off.

With it on, you can select one element and the whole group hilights.

With it off, you can select the individual elements.

^The drawing will need to be in a model type Design for that to work.

If you tell us what you want to do with the thing, we may be able to make better suggestions. There are certain advantages to using the Group command.

This seems like a candidate for referencing, depending on what you want to do.

Have you tried using CTRL+G with less elements?

I've seen this happend especially by the look of your screenshot 2D output that came throught 3D. This cause your drawing to have a lot of elements and CTRL+G can't make the group, specially using SS2 which is now somewhat older version of the program (2013).

Depends what your need is, but by the look of it the best way is to work with references. Or update your program version.

Are they locked?

Check Properties:

You can use CTRL+L (to lock) and CTRL+M (to unlock).

Or is this a reference file?

The usual approach for that purpose is a MicroStation cell library or a reference. I see that José is describing the reference route. Here's how to make a cell library from your existing file...

Save your existing DGN file as a new file
- Use file extension .cel
- Save the file to the same folder where you other cell libraries are located. Look at the paths in configuration variable MS_CELL to see those locations
Create a new, empty DGN file
Attach your new cell library
Place the cell that is automatically available from your DGN model

Hi Rajakrishna,

You can select all elements you want to add to a group and then press Ctrl<G>. This will create a cell of the selected elements. next time you select one of the elements the whole cell will highlight an can be copied.

Basically that is the shape I have and it is broken up into small segments/elements. I want to save that drawing as one entity (so when i click on it the whole drawing is highlighted and not just a segment)
