Something that has been bothering me for a while now, is the ARIAL Font not being available as a font within MicroStation.
Within the Place Text dialog the Arial font is not available.
If I copy and paste some Arial Font text from Word or another file that does have Arial fonts used, I can see this in the edit text dialog.
Even with the font included in the file, it will not display as an available font
I have had a look at the Font Installer and Arial is not listed, thus it is not a duplicate font, which has been mentioned in previous posts.

The Arial.ttf is included in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder
V8i SS3 Wind 7 and Win10
Thank you
Ian
Is there any chance that you have a resource or shx font that have an "Arial" font? It maybe that if you do have a duplicate that is taking priority over the TrueType version.
You may want to refer to the following articles:

Here is the solution I always use;
Find out where your font configuration file is: MstnFontConfig.xml. You can find it by searching the value of the variable MS_FONTCONFIGFILE. By default it is located here;
C:\Program Files\Bentley\MicroStation CONNECT Edition\MicroStation\Default\Fonts\MstnFontConfig.xml
Open the file in Notepad and search for 'HideDuplicateNames.'
Change the value from True to False. Save the change. You may need to save the file separately and then copy it back in.
Restart Microstation.
Note: Of course it's better to build this into your network configuration by changing MS_FONTCONFIGFILE.
Thank you, this solution helped save me a lot of time! I set it in my standards.cfg file "MS_FONTCONFIGFILE = (_USTN_ORGANIZATION)Fonts/MstnFontConfig.xml"
