I'm currently working with microstation v8i and I have a reference drawing with hexagons shapes in it, the hexagons appear filled but whenever I plot or cache the drawing, I will only see the outline and not the filling.
The fill option is turned on in the attributes menu, on the reference presentation menu, etc.
If I plot directly from the original file it will turn out ok, plotting the filling. The problem is only when I use it as a reference in another drawing.
I have also tried changing all the options from the information menu (while on the original file) to change the display settings so its not in wireframe, changing color, transparency, you name it.
The only partial solution I find for now is drawing a new filled hexagon while on the new drawing and place it over the reference, that way it will plot the filling. However this method is too time consuming since I have over 80 hexagons per drawing and not to mention that if I move a hexagon in the original drawing I would have to move the hexagons in the new drawing as well, defeating the purpose of having a reference and making me work twice.
Ps. the model is in 3d and the saved view is in plan view, where the hexagons are drawn in 2d, just in case it has something to do with it
Please help!
have you tried to just use it as a 2d file it doesn't seem to need to be 3d..... what is the active depth etc any cutting planes ie front and back is the display depth inside the active depth range?
is the fill on a level separate from the out line .. is this level on a printable level.. can you change the shapes so they have the fill on as an attribute of the shape not a separate polygon... , you half one might be a problem and deliberate no fill ones tooo .. I would select them all and under properties turn on the fill attribute.. but without a dgn sample as an exref its really hard to figure out from screen shots. ( need two dgn files xref and parent) so we can emulate and solve...

The fill is not on a different layer, i copied a piece and attached it here so you can see..
The parent is inside the same file, I created a view (top) and attached it as a reference on the same file.. If you cache the reference or print it, you will see what I mean.
Thanks!

When you use cache you'll loose the fills.

Thank you jose,
But how do I keep the filling when I cache the drawing or when I print it?
If I print the view straight from the model it will come out fine with the fills but when I print it from the 2D drawing sheet it will come out without the fills.
I really need the fills, this is just an example but I have lots of drawings like this
Thank you,

If you need fills in sheet layout you'll have to have the reference with dynamic visible edges.

The fills show up in design model since here the elements are also dynamic (in real time). The opposite as a reference in layout with visible edges in Cached or Legacy mode.

Thank you for your answer, In some drawings it worked but in others it's still not plotting the fills, even in dynamic, I can see the filling in the screen but it doesn't show in the plot.. Is there an option maybe I have toggled off or something at the time of plotting the view?

Always check if in print preview window you'll see what you want.
In those files that's given you a bad time check inside Settings\Print Attributes:
If Fill is turned on:
If it is and you still don't see them in preview window see if using the rasterized option turned on in print dialog helps.
