I'm looking for some examples of how to connect to access database. The version I have is 2016, it seems that the example file delivered the gis.mdb was created with an earlier than version 2003 so i am unable to open this file. I was wondering does anyone have an updated version of an access database file that I am able to play around with? I have been going through the Microstation VBA for Advanced Users and this makes reference to the gis.mdb so it makes life tough when you can't even open the file
Also is anyone using a database other than Projectwise to manage their none deliverable documentation? by that I mean things like drawing registers and drawing transmittal's. We are currently using excel but the data we input is not shared and there is a lot of repeated information.

MicroStation doesn't connect directly to a database: it uses typically an OLE-DB or ODBC connection. That connection is made, for Access, using Microsoft's desktop data connection technology. If you have Microsoft Office installed it may already be available on your computer. See this Microsoft article.

What's the Microstation VBA for Advanced Users?
If you plan to write VBA, visit the Programming Forum. You may find this article helpful. Use Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) with VBA to connect to a relational database.

Hi Jon
Yep your right I am trying to connect with a database driver but the lack of documentation and out dated makes it hard for a novice like me to work out a good work flow. Also the first link you attached no longer exists.
Apologies but Microstation VBA for Advanced Users is from the LearnServer and is the only bentley learning material I have been able to find. I will head to the Programming Forum for more advice on VBA and I will definitely being checking out the other 2 links you attached
Thanks

My fault: I've repaired that link.
