What do you currently store in your seed file? It's been a long time since the seed file was the primary repository for customized resources.

Most things that used to be in V7 seed files are now stored in DGNLIBs which offer flexibility and consistency across companies and projects. Levels, Text Styles and so on can be in libraries rather than being stored in every file so it's easy to keep files in sync with the libraries and/or create variations as required.

For instance, I'm assuming that all your levels are in the seed file. All you have to do is create a levels DGNLIB in the appropriate place, import the levels from your seed file and they are available to any file in you company or project (depending where you put the DGNLIB) regardless of seed file including imported files.

Douglas, I understand the need for a customized seed file, the point for asking was not to suggest to not customize it but of re-creating starting from one of the those delivered with the CONNECT Edition. Using a very old seed file with new generations can create problems as, even though the file format hasn't changed and it's still v8 (i hope it wasn't v7 :) ), this may not work well with some of the new features and the way the new data is organized in the file. 

I would ask you to invest a little bit of time in making a new seed file and, if the issue still persists, we will be happy to assist you further and get to the bottom of this.

I agree with Jan and found the same thing - moving it corrects the issue.

But - this works in V8i so a defect was filed for this.
