Surface area of smart surface

Question

Hi All, 
 
 Can any one tell why do we can not measure surface area of smart surface in micro station?

This is a persistent issue that Bentley of course claims to not exist. Even in 2d files, a simple rectangular element less than 5 SF, the Measure Area Tool just come up blank. The fix is simple: Uninstall Connect Version and us V8i.

I agree with Jan and found the same thing - moving it corrects the issue. 
 But - this works in V8i so a defect was filed for this.

Hello Santosh, 
 I have just tried in MicroStation V8i SS3 Created 2 Smart Surfaces, a simple one and a more complex, then from the Measure toolbox picked the Measure Area and selected the surface. With no problem I got an outcome for the surface area. What does your Smart Surface look like, could you provide an example so I can test?

Hi Douglas, 
 What do you currently store in your seed file? It's been a long time since the seed file was the primary repository for customized resources. 
 Most things that used to be in V7 seed files are now stored in DGNLIBs which offer flexibility and consistency across companies and projects. Levels, Text Styles and so on can be in libraries rather than being stored in every file so it's easy to keep files in sync with the libraries and/or create variations as required. 
 For instance, I'm assuming that all your levels are in the seed file. All you have to do is create a levels DGNLIB in the appropriate place, import the levels from your seed file and they are available to any file in you company or project (depending where you put the DGNLIB) regardless of seed file including imported files.
