Georeferenced Photos Linked in MicroStation

I am currently working on a large rail project, over several miles of railway.

We have a large quantity of photos taken along the route, each photo has embedded geo location data (taken on smart phones).

I have a large .dgn survey model, in which I would like to provide links to each of the photos.

Does the functionality exist within MicroStation to place a marker at each of the photo locations, each marker providing an external link to the corresponding photo?

Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Will

  • While I haven't played with this technology enough to be sure, I think it would be possible by using cells with placeholder fields and Project Explorer links. I'm not sure how you'd get the geocoordinate data from the photos...Hopefully someone with more knowledge will be along soon.
Which version of Microstation (etc.) are you using?

    Power InRoads 08.11.09.918
    OpenRoads Designer 2021 R2

Yes, I thought there would be a way to do it as I have manually added Project Explorer links to cells and elements previously.

I am just expecting a large batch of photos and want to, firstly speed up the process and secondly utilise the geo data within the photos.

I am currently using MicroStation version 08.11.09.608, AECOsim version 08.11.09.747 and ProjectWise Explorer CONNECT version 10.0.2.265.

    Thank you for your help.
