Caching in MicroStation Connect Edition

Question

Is it possible to Cache 2D design models when they are referenced into a Drawing model? I know that you can for 3D models that are referenced into a Drawing model,is also possible for 2D?

Hi, 
 It would be good to know what you would like to achieve by doing this. 
 1. Speed : If you switch between models or display Refs on/off a lot, you may want to check your Preferences.References settings

Always Cache 
 If off (the default), memory caching of the references that are not display ed is disabled. Disabling caching shortens start-up time when references are attached but not display ed, and it causes a delay in the display of an un cache d reference.
 The default setting is off. You might want to turn it on if: 
 
 You frequently turn on and off the display of the references 
 There are shared cell definitions in a reference that are not display ed in the active design file

If you are working with ProjectWise, the Local Document Organiser should already ensure that there is a copy on your local drive to maximise loading speed. Getting a SSD drive is a good idea. 
 2. Freezing or copying a version of the graphics : I know that a lot engineers like to have a frozen background to work from. Have you tried generating a DV of the Refs? I suppose that the models will need to be 3d. DV's should process the '2d' elements, and the results can then be cached. 
 If this doesn't work, then maybe you could try inserting the dgn model as a Cell, using the Place Cell tool. The dgn model would have 'Can be placed as Cell' toggle ticked.
