I often have to deal with longitudinal sections of pipe trenches where I have to enter the pipe axis heights and ground heights manually. Usually these have a 1:250 length scaled and 1:50 height scale. In order to work on them I have to scale them back to "normal" which also means that all texts are scaled to a fifth of their original width. When I open these in the text editor I can hardly see what I'm writing there. Is there a possibility to set the text editor to show normal width text? I haven't found one yet apart from reading the text in the status bar before and after editing. While typing I'm as blind as a mole.

In V8i I would change the workspace preferences temporarily not to use text editor as wprocessor but old school text editor then it will not use actual text size..., when finished change back to use word processor mode...

Would this be sections being produced manually in plain MicroStation or possibly a Civil design software package, possibly InRoads etc? It may be that this scaling can be taken into account when producing these section in the Civil design software? The version of the software being used would be quite helpful as well.

Hi Andrew, that's sections produced manually in plain Powerdraft and Microstation CE10 on a Win 7 Pro system. These are not derived from 3D plans as it would take way too much time to generate a 3D model first from mainly paper and/or jpg/pdf data from other sources (especially the ground surface).
I just wondered if there's a way to toggle the text editor view in PD/MS from "show text identical to screen" to "show text without formatting" or something similar.
Thanks for the idea but I'm using CE10...
Thanks for the extra details regarding your issue. I'm not sure whether your suggestion to "show text without formatting" would be an option as all text needs to have some sort of information to specify its size, font, justification etc. whether it is from a specific Text Style or not.
What method are you choosing to rescale these sections. Is it just a matter of selecting the elements, possibly with a fence, and rescaling the X or Y? Maybe you could provide an example design file and some screen capture to show the procedure and tools you are using to perform this action.
