How do I group more then one item together in a 2D drawing in Connect Edition. In V8I it was easy to find under Edit, but I can not find it in Connect.
thanks
Top right icon. This is on the Home ribbon on the right hand side. You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrtl-G
Oh thank you......
You should try using Named Groups... they are much better than regular groups.
1. you can name then
2. You can add remove from them
3. you can select them
4. you can turn the graphic group lock off and manipulate the items away from the group then turn it on to act as a group
4, you can reference them
5. you can isolate them
AMAZING TOOL
But that involves me turning the Graphic Group lock on, off, on, off, on, off....because Graphic Group lock affects more elements than just named groups. And heaven forbid that some odd element gets placed into a graphic group, because all sorts of chaos can happen (Why is my construction limit line way over there?).
Not to mention, I don't always want to spend the time naming every single group I make - that's going to double my time of production on some matters. I can have twenty different property line note labels on a sheet; each one has an extra "L" that I end up grouping with the actual note so it all stays together. Naming every single one of those groups would take easily twice as long (if the name is to mean anything) plus it adds another dialog box to keep track of.
I can appreciate the use of Named Groups, and I do use them for certain types of element collections, but they sure don't seem to be any kind of silver bullet that answers all my problems. They are useful, and they have uses, but sometimes a quick and dirty grouping really does serve my purposes much better.

I agree. If I want a named group I make a cell. If I want to quickly group things I use Ctrl-G
FYI I assume CE still works like v8i in that if you control G ie group elements it makes it and orphan cell, which if you examine via properties you can now enter a name manually for it...
