Always show vertices

Hi,

I was wondering if there is a way in microstation to alway show the vertices? Because quite often I want to pick an element and look at the vertex with some tool, but when I click on the tool I want to use, the vertices is invisible again..... In short terms I want the vertices to always be visible. Is that possible?

  • Hi P?l o

I am not sure I understand you correctly.

Do you mean vertex or handles in an element?

If you mean handles you can enable this on the element Select dialog by just pressing on disable handles button, once this is done the button below (Select handles) gets activated. See screen shot

If this is not what you are looking for, please maybe attach some screen shot or example file

  • Hi Maria, and thanks for the respond, unfortuantly that is not what I was looking for.

I am not sure if I mean vertex or handles as I am not 100% sure whats the difference between the two...

I have attached some images that shows what I mean. Image 1 show a group of selected elements with its corresponding vertices, but when I then change the tool I want to use, the vertices goes invisible eventhough the elements are still selected, see image 2.

I want that the vertex(or handles?) are always visible.

    Any suggestions?

  • Thanks for the suggestion Andrew. The reason I want the vertex displaying at all time, is because I am using Terrasolid on top of microstation and often I want to create vertical sections exactely where the vertex are.  However thats no easy when whenever I choose the vertex tool, the vertices goes invisible.

  • This is why I suggest just simple utilizing the Key Point Snap. I use it while cutting cross sections in a program called TopoDOT, which I run in Microstation. Works great!

  • The Line style editor is a bit beyond my ability to explain here, but you will need to create a linestyle with both a stroke and a point component. When you create the point component, you will "assign" it a base stroke pattern, and you will have the option to apply your point at the beginning, end and vertex. You probably want all three to have use your point component.

If you need more help than that, you may find some good videos and articles in the Wiki, or out on You Tube.

  • Here's a simple case where SEEING the vertices would help:   I need to use the DELETE VERTEX tool on a treeline symbolized with a scalloped pattern.  Due to the patterning of the line, the ACTUAL vertex locations are not obvious.  If there was a way to toggle on the display of all VERTICES (like you can when selecting an element) knowing where each vertex actually becomes extremely useful.  The snap mode shows the vertex as I get close... but due to the scalloped patterning, the vertex locations are at times significantly different from what you might assume from the display in MicroStation.
