Hi,
I was wondering if there is a way in microstation to alway show the vertices? Because quite often I want to pick an element and look at the vertex with some tool, but when I click on the tool I want to use, the vertices is invisible again..... In short terms I want the vertices to always be visible. Is that possible?
After reading through all of this, my suggestion would be to simply utilize your snaps (KEY POINT snap). I don't think there is a way to permanently turn on the element vertex handles. Also, don't worry about the vertex/handle business, a vertex is a vertex in either program!
An alternative may be to create a custom tool that runs a macro that would select all elements and enable the handles.
depending on the tool you want to use you can select your element ( with handles on) you can now modify by drag with powerselector any of the handels or highlighted vertices... if its a true closed shape and you use enhanced fence on in workspace prefs then can let do some clever modifications via fence clip move and fence clip stretch, or just individual veritices can be deleted via the delete vertex tool under modify tools...

Technically you should not need to have the vertex points displaying at all times as whichever tool you are using your should be selecting the appropriate Snap Mode to snap to the type of position or point along the elements. Something like the Keypoint snap mode would be used in this circumstance to snap to each vertex point when using any tools to place or modify your elements.

Lorys: have you ever tried selecting more than one vertice by pressing CTRL before start selecting? You can easily move these without losing their absolute distances with moving only one of the selected vertices (don't know how to describe that better). No need for fences then. This is what I mean: select the element to show the vertices, then hold down CTRL and select the vertices to be moved (these turn yellow) by either selecting them one by one or with a "selection window", then use one of these vertices to change the shape and see what this does.
