I'm doing some area documentation and using text with Fields to keep track of some of my areas. Down the road, the background linework is going to change, and the shapes will probably need to be recreated. Is there any way to re-link that already existing text field to the newly created element, or do I have to go through and place all the texts over again?
Thank you.MaryBMSTN v08.11.09.829
Hi,

By editing the text and on top of the lost field RMB and you can choose re-assign, then all you have to do is choose the new element. The link will be made to the same property.
Hope this helps and regards

I knew I could do that, and if that's the only solution, then there it is.
I was wondering/hoping there might be something like a "reassociate" tool, where I could just click the text-with-field and the element and the field would automatically "know" to get it's value from the new element instead of the old one.
Thanks!

Found one yet? This will be powerful! Why didn't Bentley think of that, it is so straightforward

For which version of MicroStation? This post was started in 2018 about MicroStation V8i.

At the time of posting, Bentley were busy trying to make MicroStation CONNECT a workable replacement for V8i. Any new development would be for MicroStation CONNECT — V8i was in maintenance mode.
You can reassociate a dimension, and you can reassociate a tag.
I can't find a command to reassociate a text field. You could propose an Idea.
