Dear Forum,I'm using Insert Field on Text Editor where i use the Element Properties to populate the text. I have a graphical square which represents where a POD file has data for, and i have the POD file linked to the square so when you click the square it loads the POD. With the POD unloaded, when i use Text Editor and Insert Filed and Element Properties, the options for which property of the element i can use as text lists the link to the POD at the bottom of the dialog which pops up. I cant seem to use this data within 'Link' Field. Is this correct? Any ideas on how i could?
If I understand you correctly (It's early; I could be wrong) you are trying to get a text field to display the name of a linked file?
You may need to come at this from a slightly different direction and create a placeholder cell, which could be as simple as a Placeholder Cell Link text field. While I don't understand it quite enough to explain it very well, it seems that I can only link fields to the active file with regular text fields. If I want to connect a field to any external data, I need to create a placeholder cell. Once I place the Placeholder cell, I can use Project Explorer to create the connection between my external data source and the cell field.

Hi, I am not sure I follow exactly what you are trying to do but the general concept of a field is that it can display anything that is shown in properties. So if you look at the properties of the thing you want to get the name from and can see it then you should be able to place that as a text element using a field. Are you able to see the information in properties?

John.
yep
I appreciate its a little technical for being so early...Your almost there John. That properties box you speak of, i cant use anything from it as my text as the properties box lists the link to the POD file i have set up linked to the graphical square, but i cannot select that data for the link to be my properties..
Can you share that data set ?
I will check it at my end.
Thanks,
