CE U11-Text Favorites-Is it possible to create a plain text favorite?

Hi,

I have not looked too much into the Text Favorites so far.  When I think of the term, "Text Favorites", what comes to mind is a list of commonly used phrases, notes, terms, etc.  (For us, "ROOF TRUSSES, E.N. @ 6" o/c", "ALIGN JOIST", '14" (inch) TJI 210 @ 19.2" o/c', '15/32" roof sheathing' (where 15/32 is a stacked fraction) etc.  I would want to place this text into my text editor as unformatted text, ie use the active text settings.

Is this something that the Text Favorites can do?  How do you specify what text style attributes to ignore?  Or are you stuck with all the original attributes with which the original favorite was created?

    >>You are right Robert, in addition to this, we can create favorites for placeholder fields as well as fields with property values.

    >>There are two ways for creation of Text Favorite, depending on that we can assign attributes to Text Favorite.

    1. Save phrases, notes, terms, fields etc. directly as Text Favorite using right click option in Text editor window. (This one is an old way of creation of Text Favorite)   Here Text favorite takes attribute from the active text style. (We can assign attributes which we want by changing text style before saving this as Text favorite. So that Text favorite get created with assigned attribute/Text style. Also, we can change attributes of already saved Text Favorites from the Text Favorite manager dialog box, by assigning different text style or overriding attributes from the title bar.
    2. Create Text Favorite directly from the Text Favorite manger with required attributes. Also, we can override attributes after inserting Text Favorite in to text editor.

  • Hi Abhay,

What I want to do is create plain text, without any text attributes.  I want to be able to insert those phrases or notes into my current text element with the current active text attributes.

Sorry, this is a very poor screen capture, but maybe it can explain what I want to do.  In the screen capture I did this:
    1) The first thing I do is select my white text and make a favorite out of it (the screen capture software did not catch the right click menu.  Sorry.)
    2) Then changed my settings and typed in new text (in gray).  Then I added my newly created text favorite.
    3) I then selected the text inserted by the text favorite, and changed it to the 1-Plan Text style that I am using (with customizations).
    4) Then I placed my text.  If you look closely, you can see the white text is white (instead of gray) and a bit smaller than the gray text.  I want this favorite to take on the current text attributes and look just like the gray text.
    5) I started over again with a new text style-- this one is yellow and much larger.  Then I insert my text favorite.  You can see the difference in size in the Text Editor dialog box.
    6) Then I selected my inserted text, and change it to the current text style.  Again, because of customizations to the current text style size, the new size does not match.  Also the color does not match.
    7) I placed my text.

The final result that I want is a text element in gray, of a single text style, single color, single size, etc that says, "THIS IS FUN THIS is FUN".  Then I want a second element, all in yellow, all in one size, one font, one color that says, "THIS IS FUN THIS is FUN".   The second half of each of these elements should be identical to (look the same as) the first half, except that "is" is lower case instead of upper case.

I use the same phrase(s) in drawings of different scale, with different text styles, with different sizes.  I want to have a text favorite that is just TEXT, without text STYLE included.  How do I do that?  If I have to reset the style, figure out the size, reset the size, and change the color--that is too much.  I might as well just type my phrase over and over again.

  • Just to clarify, you want the words or phrases to be saved as a favorite, but with no style associated, so that they always take on the active text attributes?

    That sounds incredibly helpful!
I recall there was something like that, a long time ago, but it wasn't very robust and wasn't around very long.

  • Hi Mary,

You said it exactly.  I want the words and/or phrases saved as a favorite, with no textstyle.

I don't mind if there is an option to save the textstyle, but for the most of my stuff, the option would be turned off.
