Hi,
I have a model with one complex chain. /cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/273/complex_5F00_chain.dgn
The color on complex chain's node is white, and the color on its curve segments are orange, and the curve displays as orange on CONNECT.
My question is that
(1) Is complex chain's color decided by its curve segments' color? Is it possible the curve segments have different color?
(2) Are there any flags to decide the display color (complex chain's or curve segment's)?
as far as I understand its what level and by level setting you set everything on so if you drew by level you can even use an override to change the colour by its level override but this applies to all objects on the same level..

Element is Drawn using ByLevel Properties set for Level Ex Utilities (uses Color = 22...shades of Orange)
But the node "complex chain" is also using ByLevel properties set for level Default (uses Color = 0), why complex chain's color is decided by its child elements'?
The thing confused me is that complex chain and its child elements are all ByLevel, but set for different level and color.
Why the display color is showed as child elements', not its own?
Hi Richard,

It looks a bit weird to me. How the element was created? By default, when Complex Chain is created, the active symbology is used and it's applied to Complex Chain header and its content (all elements inside).

I think yes.

Not using normal users' tools. Maybe using code such element can be created, but it's with general philosophy that elements should share the same symbology (cell is I think the only expception).

No. Using Properties dialog, it's not possible to change individual symbology and when old Analyze element dialog is used, when one element is changed, the same change is applied to all elements in Complex Chain.
