Cut_Slabs.dgn
What is the best method to cut a hole through multiple slabs?
Cut Solid only seems to want to do one at a time.
Tried creating a group of the slabs, cell etc.
Uploaded test file shows the required 'holes' in red.
I'm sure I used to be able to use element selection...
Using CEu8 on Win7
Thanks,
Paul.
End of 2022 - any news in this case ? I try cut solids by multi profiles but still nothing. Only Jan tip works ok but slow.
Hi martinezx,
I tested this already (MS 10.17.02.28) and it seems to work. I used the Ctrl button to select multiple.
Look on the video below:
What version of MS are you currently using ?
Could you sent the file ?
Regards,
Marta
Hi David
here you are... 2 of buildings ( dark grey ) are parametric, rest normal solids. And there is a saved view in the file.
What we need is to select all at once ( building and cutting profiles ) and just cut. And than... cutted element ( when you lock "split solid" ) should be in level style
Same thing is possible in mesh trim or surface - why not.

The original post was filed against MicroStation CONNECT Update 8, there were some changes made in Update 16 to the Cut Solid by Curve Tool. The YouTube clip provided earlier was captured using V8i.
Using MicroStation Update 17.1, I believe I was able to perform the requested operation, with the two sample files provided although needing to select all the buildings and all the profiles separately (Not at once) by using the 'Alt' Key to select Fence mode, may be you could try this build and if needing further assistance raise a Service Request.
Note, in the second example I did move the Buildings and Cutting profiles onto a separate Levels to make selection easier
Hello Carl , what version exactly ? In 10.17.01.62 is not possible use Alt key.
Btw if it possible - so it looks like "at once" is also possible. So the next step is to add switch to keep cutting level attributes.
Martin
Hello Martin,
I recorded the videos using 10.17.01.62, for me the Alt Key is working as captured. Having Selected the 'Cut Solid by Curve' tool if you do a Data point in the View and keep you mouse button pressed, then move the mouse you should see a dotted line (Selection by Line) at this point with the mouse button still pressed select the 'ALT' Key and move the cursor you should then see the Selection Box. Does this work for you?
Regarding the change in attributes, this is a different question to original post but granted its related in your provided test case(s).
I am able to reproduce this with your test case(s) and believe the issue is related to the fact that you have modified the colour of the Solids from ByLevel to an Index color after creation and the resultant cut is still maintaining the ByLevel color and not the newly assigned Index color.
Bug 1067352 has been filed to address cutting Level Attributes. Thanks for reporting.
