Random elements disappearing in v8i when using camera

Hello,

When using the CAMERA view (not ortho), is there a reason why elements disappear? It seems random elements will disappear as I walk around larger models and export animations. When I pan or rotate the camera slightly they reappear. Does anyone have fix for this? I work in mining, and we use large files with many references. We use the camera mode to fly through buildings and look at equipment, pipes, etc. But it seems like once the files are large or complicated, random elements disappear almost as if Microstation does not like the camera angle. I have noticed that if I delete elements floating far away or clip the reference boundary it seems to improve the issue, but things still disappear.

Using windows 10, 64 bit, 32gb RAM. Video card is NVIDIA Quadro M1200. Currently using microstation 08.11.09.536 but I have tried other versions in the v8i series.

I have used different versions of windows, video cards, navigator v8i, and microstations including CONNECT, and the issue seems consistent across everything.

Is there a way to make microstation utilize my hardware better? Is there a setting I need to enable? Does microstation simply dislike large files, lots of references and cannot handle them?

Thank you,

Andre

  • when this has happened to me  its either been in the workspace prefs .. turn off anti aliasing for all ... other times its been the 3d file has  display depth different to the clipping planes  I use this keyin to change this and usually  fixes everything...

    dd=-1000000,1000000;dx=,,,;reset

    I'm working in meters for master units if your in feet you'll have to change the keyin accordingly...
