In response to this blog https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/b/microstation_blog/posts/connect-edition-adoption-blogs-toc please could someone at Bentley suggest a way of getting our users to try CONNECT. The ones that have used just don't like it.
Ian's is a good approach. You could also just tell them support for v8i is ending. Either way people hate change, and people at work whine and cry like spoiled little babies.
Honestly, if it were me, 15 years ago when I was lead of a small CAD group, I'd stay on v8i as long as possible. There are some new features in Connect which might tempt, but none (I know of) in the type of civil engineering support drafting I've always done.
Connect r17 10.17.2.61 self-employed-Unpaid Beta tester for Bentley
Agreed. People don't like Connect because their productivity drops of a cliff while they struggle to get used to the new version. The only way to mitigate that is to make it as much like V8i as possible. If Bentley had more sense they would have created a complete 'classic' interface for Connect.
Well, I like the look and feel of Connect (with my own "classic" interface) and got used to it quite well. But whenever I have to use V8i for some reason I'm stunned as to how fast and flawless it works.

Bentley Systems accelerated MicroStation CONNECT's performance in Updates 10 and 11, but it's still sluggish compared to MicroStation V8i.

I'm already using Powerdraft Connect 10 (11 is not yet availabe in German) which is definitely faster than the previous versions.

1. Steel doesn't work with it.
2. Area Tools doesn't work with it.
3. Autotrack doesn't work with it.
All our users use the above on a regular basis so until this can be sorted the use of SS4 wont stop.
