that wont work it just renames the GCS to another name datum projection it wont reproject the data in the design file will it?

If I had just one file I would reapply the new projection thru the GCS tools and accept the reproject option when it pops.

ok I figured it out its

geocoordinate assign reproject NEWGCSNAME

Example

my old file is MGA94-55

I want to change it to MGA94-55 and reproject it

the key in is

geocoordinate assign reproject MGA94-54 ( as it was named in the GCS tool window must letter perfect)

geocoordinate assign reproject MGA94-54; FIT VIEW EXTENDED

and yep it reprojects without going to the CGS tools to do it!

This is useful to know. In addition to this is there a key-in that will allow updating to a GCS transform?

Up till now I create macros to do the same, however, macro recorder does not recognise actions in the GCS dialog, to this end I have had to use the method of get GCS from file and point to a file with the correct GCS or Transform attached.

In U11 we can now name transforms, which is great, is it possilbe to save transforms as GCS rather than storing in files only?

Oh okay, if that is related to GCS then...

Invoke GCS Library > select desired GCS from the list and ‘Copy’ its name properly from the right pane.
Open attached txt file, delete all previous content and just keep below line in it…

geocoordinate assign noquery GCSNAME

Replace GCSNAME in above line by GCS name you’ve copied.
Save and close the file.

5. Follow the same procedure from Step-4 as mentioned in my first reply.

ACS, GCS - they are both called "Coordinate systems". And the solution for one is not the solution for another. Applying an ACS solution when the GCS is the problem could probably destroy a project.

No, above command in .txt file is for ACS only. Adlf is asking for changing Coordinate System (ACS) in multiple files.

Hi Adif,

Edit attached ‘Change_ACS.txt’ file
Rename word ‘New’ to your desired existing ACS name. (that ACS should be available in your each dgn file)
Save the file and close.

In MicroStation, go to menu File> Tools> Batch Process.
Click on ‘Add Files or Directories to Process’ button.
Select all files in which you want to change the ACS.
Click on ‘…’ button (Browse for command file) > select attached .txt file.
Click on ‘Process Batch Process Job’ button> click ‘Process’

This will change ACS in all selected files.

If you own Autocad, I'd do it there. Stringing together commands for a Microstation macro (or?) will be involved.
