Why Connect Advisor with Bentley View?

Hi,

Why is Connect Advisor being installed with Bentley View?  How much advising can be done for a read-only viewer?

Also, why does installing Bentley View Connect affect the installation of Microstation V8i SS3?  There is no reason why installing the new View should install the Connection Advisor into Mcrostation V8i, especially without giving the user an option.

--Thanks,

  • CONNECT Advisor is a helper application, which when installed integrates itself with supported V8i Applications and CONNECT Edition products together.

there is a single CONNECT Advisor that serves both the generations (v8i and CONNECT Edition) of Bentley Applications.

  • Why do the WIKI and the Blog state: "Updates to the CONNECT Advisor feature are delivered during quarterly application updates. Each individual CONNECT Edition contains its own CONNECT Advisor feature so it is possible to have multiple instances running if more than one application is in use".

Is it a different tool or just different content?

That being said; It is just a viewer with online help. If a user is unable to use the viewer even with the new, better, improved online Help, then either this Help is inadequate or the user is. An advisor is not going to make that go away. Slight smile
