Array parametric solid features tool gives strange results.
See below. I just made an array of a cylinder around a circle.
The reference point for is obviously not the center of the cylinder.
How can we know wich keypoint is used to copy the geometry on a path ?

Christophe
Hi Christophe,
This a known issue where Array Feature Along Path Tool gives incorrect Result with Arc/Ellipse and Helix as a Path Element. We have a Defect-976595 to track down this issue. Just as a workaround (considering circular path), I would like to suggest Polar Array where you can control your Pivot and Reference point.
Thanks,
Dinesh
Thank you Dinesh,
This seems indeed a defect, Array features along a path says (status bar) "Use Controls to Adjust Array" but no controls point appears..
Please double check because the defect is not only with Arc and Helix as path, it doesn't work either with a simple multiline.
christophe.
Actually Multiline is not a valid element that can be selected as a Path and tool also shows Buster bar on same appropriately saying "Element not valid for tool". The other element that I mentioned are allowed but produce incorrect result the way you have noticed.
Thanks & Regards,
oopps. My mistake, i did not mean Multiline but Smartline or complex chain. The tool doesn't work proprely either because we can not choose the reference point of the parametric object.
regards
Christophe.
Yes I do Agree with you. At present Array Along Path Tool is undergoing enhancement (E-642478). Present Tool demands Path element to start from Reference point and that too correct Results are observed when 'Rotate Items' Toggle is set to OFF. Though we have observed correct result in most of the cases when Toggle set to ON (D-802928), gives incorrect results in specific cases which is tracked in Defect-106179. Also Tool prompts incorrectly on "Use Controls to Adjust Array" Tracked in Defect-730552.
