Do I always have to click in the Key-In box prior to entering a key-in command?

Using MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 3): do I always have to click my cursor in the key-in box prior to typing in a key-in command? Is there a way to make it so that if I type, MS automatically knows I'm trying to key-in? It is like that in AutoCAD with the command line.

Thanks!

  • Set an Fkey to "inputmanager cmdbrowse". When you hit the Fkey you assigned focus will be switched to the key-in dialog. I always have the key-in dialog docked so it is always open. You can probably use a key-in string to open the dialog and place focus in the command line with one Fkey, but why not keep it docked for convenience?
