Does anyone have an updated barmenu.ma that would work with connect edition ORD?

  • This is pretty much what I would expect from Bentley. No response. Worst support system in the industry. I'm nearing the end of my career, which started back in the middle 80's, when the Bentley brothers wrote a program that would compete with Autocad on a PC based platform that mimicked the file structure of the large mainframe Intergraph machines. Back then, and for many many years after that, the support and customer experience far surpassed the competition, and I was one of Bentleys largest supporters. about 10 years ago I felt a turn for the worst, and the trend has continued to this day.

I don't like this company anymore, which is sad, since I'm possibly the longest user of their product on this planet. I use to take pride in turning autocad users into MicroStation users, and have them admit within a month that MicroStation was better, but I no longer even attempt that. I recommend users to stick with Autocad, or switch to it if they have the chance. I see the tide turning away from Bentley.

  • I think that barmenu.ma was a Bill Steinbock creation. Not Bentley.

Never really used it, but I think that it would be easily replicated using more recent UI / Ribbon tools.

  • It was Bill's creation, best I can remember, but I would expect someone from Bentley to at least monitor this section and reply. They don't.....as I expected.

I like the simple editing of the barmenu's as opposed to creating the more complex ribbon menus or tool buttons.

  • Hello Greg, apologies for the lack of response on your post - this particular forum isn't monitored by Bentley Support in the way that the Product Community forums are - we're going to look into that to improve things so that questions like this do not fall through the cracks.

I've raised this post to the attention of my colleagues in our Civil and MicroStation groups and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. Here is a link to the Civil Community forum: OpenRoads | OpenSite Forum

  • Hello Greg, I have moved your post to the MicroStation forum, where someone should be able to help you.
