cell in base file not showing up correct scale in sheet view

I have a base file that is 30 scale with cells at that scale. The base is referenced into many sheets at 30 scale & all the cells are fine.  I have one sheet that is 50 scale but I cannot get the cells to show up at 50 scale in the sheet view, they are still 30 scale, even though in the default view they are fine (showing up at 50 scale) as soon as I toggle to sheet view they go back to 30 scale.  I can't figure out what setting (s) I need to adjust.  Thanks!

  • Just some questions

The base is referenced into many sheets at 30 scale & all the cells are fine

Is this referenced 1 to 1 or scaled onto the sheet via detail scale?

I have one sheet that is 50 scale but I cannot get the cells to show up at 50 scale in the sheet view, they are still 30 scale

    Same questions

even though in the default view they are fine (showing up at 50 scale)

Just so I understand. If you are in the default model (this is the model where the cells live)and toggle annotation scale from 1=30 to 1=50 then the cells scale accordingly? If they do scale accordingly and you then open the 30 scale sheet model are the cells still correct (default model was set and saved at 50 scale)?

    yep

  • so here is the setup.  I have a base dgn set at 30 scale - cells look great and I can change the scale here & the cells scale up or down.  I have individual dgn's  that the base is referenced into at 1:1.  and the scale  is set in the model (default) of each of these individual dgn's to the scale that I will need the sheet view to be mostly, 30 scale, but one at 50 scale.  regardless of which scale I make the default in the individual dgn's, the cells will either scale up to 50 or remain at the 30 scale like they are in the base dgn.  once I go into the sheet view the cells drop back to 30 scale for some reason.  I am not using the "use active annotation scale" for the reference because the sheet view scale is 1 to 1.  If I go into the base dgn & change the scale to 50 then all the sheets that are 30 scale have the cells too big.  I hope I answered your questions

That is interesting that the Iron Pipe Found is not scaling for you.  In the default view of the shared sheet file when I change the scale the IPF scales with it....but maybe you are meaning in the sheet view...because yes, it doesn't change there.

  • Files nested into a collector will revert back to their source annotation scale factor when the collector is referenced into a sheet.

Just ran across the same issue with text sizes and can confirm this behaviour for files nested into a collector that is referenced into another model. WAD or defect?

  • I'd call it a defect, simply from the POV that, if I am setting up a collector file, that is where I want to control the way things look (for consistency across a sheet set).

If you have the ability to file a Service Ticket, please do! I didn't have the authority to do that then, and I am at a new place where we are not using those cells, so we don't have that problem at this point.

  • Oh yes, I will file a ST, no worries. I didn't check with cells but am dealing with text sizes only. Those files were originally created in AutoCAD, though. But that shouldn't be a problem when it comes to scaling, should it?

  • It shouldn't. And I've seen this sort of behavior with "genuine" MicroStation Annotation cells as well, at least in V8i.
It's possible this is related to a setting somewhere (what isn't?) but I know I never did find it.
