I have a mapped river bottom, provided by a 3rd party, who has indicated can be treated as a typical dtm/terrain model.
The surface itself, is a cell, comprised of mesh triangles.
It accuratly is displaying various overhanges and caves, can one use this "mesh" for volume calculations, cross section, or other typical DTM related things?
Are you using plain MicroStation or any of the other design packages?

As MaryB alludes to, is it plain MicroStation you are asking about here or possibly a Civil Design package like Geopak or InRoads or OpenRoads? The version of software is always helpful as well.

Hi Joshua miller,
MicroStation does not create or edit digital terrain models (DTMs) and does not have any tools for creating terrain sections if you are referring to the traditional longitudinal and/or cross-sectional terrain profiles. To do all of the above, you must have a civil engineering application with specific tools for terrain modelling.
