I just switched over to Microstation Connect Edition from V8I. In V8I I used to be able to set my references as elements for manipulation and copy them from one file and paste them into another file. This doesn't seem to work in Connect Edition. Is there a solution to this?
Noticed that as well, solution is Bug Fix, who knows when. Connect is kinda like a beta. They're getting there, but they're taking their time, ulterior motives suspected.

The world of conspiracy theories is a fascinating place! What motive could Bentley Systems possibly have for not making MicroStation CONNECT fast, bug-free and better than its predecessors?

I am not really sure if I get your problem right, but isn't that a problem which you could solve using Ctrl-C (copy) and Ctrl-V (paste) and making groups? And perhaps activating and deactivating the reference, depending on where you want to paste the copied things. In addition merging the reference with the master could help?
Could you give an example what your steps were in V8i and where you are stuck in CE?

Currently using:
OpenPlant Modeler - Version: 10.09.00.74
[MicroStation - Version: 10.14.02.01]
I tested this workflow in CONNECT and can't get it to work either. I get the error "Element type not valid for this tool". Works fine with v8i. Seems to be WApD.
I can't think of a quick workaround other than just attaching the Reference.

yep
To keep us on Select Services. But yes, I don't really believe my own statement, believe it's more likely they just made some bad high level decisions on the approach to going 64-bit. I'm just angry more than anything. Somehow, I am getting my work done, only occasionally having to run v8i. At least the files are more less back compatible, unlike Autodesk products.
