Hi all,
I'm trying to stencil some very long linestrings/chains onto a 3d mesh and am finding the results are many individual lines. They are being draped successfully, but is there any reason why the linestrings/chains are being dropped to lines? There are so many that is not very practical.
I'm using MicroStation CE U12/OpenRoads Designer U7, but see the same behaviour in v8i.
Regards,
Mark
Is it possible for you to supply an example and some screen captures? Have these line strings or 3d mesh come from other sources? Any other details you could supply would be most helpful.

Hi Andrew,
The Mesh was created using either using the Mesh from Element tool from a Terrain or the Terrain itself, and the linestrings were from a Merged DWG, but im seeing the same thing from a complex chain created in MicroStation.
Here is a link to the 2D linestrings & Mesh: https://www.dropbox.com/s/icjj62moscenlb7/BDY-Project.dgn?dl=0
Here is a link to the Terrain DGN: https://www.dropbox.com/s/32j6nhpp4hlw2c2/TERR-Survey.dgn?dl=0
All I did was either run the Stencil tool on the DGN with the linestrings and Mesh, or remove the mesh and reference in the Terrain and get the same results.

I'm having the same issue. I know the stenciled lines are supposed to come in as a mesh, but they come in as individual line strings. When I go to add width/thickness to the linestrings to export into LumenRT, the depth is applied on the wrong plane randomly along the line string. One pavement marking might be fine, but the next one will be widened along the Z plane, not the X/Y plane, rendering a pavement marking you can't see unless you rotate the view.
Have you had any success with this?
Hello Mark,
I am able to reproduce issue and created defect in our backlog to track down this issue
for current work around , you can use Create complex chain tool with method set to Automatic so you can generate continues line with minimum effort

Thanks Harshad,
I'd given up hope after 3 weeks. The only issue I have is that it takes a very long time to use the complex chain command with the auto settings with some elements that I have that spans 10's of 1000's of little segments.
If you can keep me updated when this gets approved for a future release, it would be much appreciated.
