Is there another way to finish a command. for example when lofting, after selecting the two shapes you'd like to loft you need to click anywhere on the window to finish. when i do this sometimes it cancels the command and i have to restart. is there a button or anything else i can do to finish the command. this also happens for me when shelling and object etc.

Lofting and Shelling are 3DS terms for "Extrude Along Path" and "Thicken" if I'm not mistaking. Correct me if I'm wrong Isaiah.
